Cycling and Biking in the Merano Region
Right from the house, well-developed paths take you straight across the Vinschgau valley. Whether it’s mountain biking, road cycling, or just leisurely pleasure cycling… Off-road rides in pristine nature, past mountain lakes or through wonderful orchards and along romantic stream banks. Leisurely rides to ancient castles and medieval villages. Bike tours through forests and alpine meadows. South Tyrol is a paradise for cyclists who not only want to pursue their athletic ambitions but also want to see a lot of the land and its people in a relaxed atmosphere. The nearby basin around Merano and the surrounding mountain ranges and valleys such as the Passeier Valley, the Ultental, the Vinschgau, and the Adige Valley form a diverse biking territory. In the valley floor, you can clearly feel the Mediterranean climate influence. In addition to the valley floor, there are many other hidden biking paradises to discover at higher altitudes. Numerous cable cars lead quickly and comfortably from the valley floor to dream spots for mountain bikers, such as the Vigiljoch, the mountain slopes around Algund, Dorf Tirol and Schenna, or the Tschögglberg. Slightly longer bike tours lead to Völlan and into the rustic Ultental valley.
